Transportation is getting metamorphosed across the globe, to support new aspirations for mobility arising out of evolution of societies, technologies and the ecosphere. The deep nexus of transportation with energy, Information, materials and manufacturing are being explored the world over for new opportunities to make mobility solutions evermore sustainable, reliable, affordable and efficient. The solutions for India must be bespoke to address the challenges of its climate, economy and resources and meet the aspirations and preferences of its customers and industry.
In this background, The Centre of Excellence in Advanced Transportation (CoE-AT) has been launched at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in April 2023 with the vision to:
Be a transdisciplinary knowledge, learning, innovation and research centre for transportation technologies
Provide support to students, researchers, startups, industry, policymakers, planners and adjudicators on matters related to transportation
Be sustainable and autonomous in term of brand, fund, resources
Play a leadership role in creating sustainable, affordable, reliable efficient transport solutions nationally and globally
CoE-AT aspires to adopt an entrepreneurial approach to transportation technology innovations by
Catalysing industry-institute research engagements
Delivering industry tech from invention embryos
Interpreting science for businesses and back
Prioritising translational research and building the innovation funnel
Inspiring and synergising transdisciplinary entrepreneurial teams
