I left my industry job post my Engineering and I pursued my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management with a desire to bring positive changes to the World, essentially to see a hunger-free World in years ahead. I believed that education to labor market transition and the choices made along the way play an instrumental role in determining one?s standard of living. I choose education and labor market coordination as my topic of Ph.D.
I was mostly focused on academic publication during my Ph.D. Consequently, I was fortunate to have an amazing exposure of working with the World Bank, the United Nations and with the Government of India. I had the responsibility of advising policymakers at the highest level.
My experiences taught me that the domain of Public Policy is in dire need of technological intervention, particularly to build an end to end feedback mechanism in different fields. At present, at IIT Kharagpur, I am working to develop/ apply certain technologies to facilitate the end to end feedback mechanism.
Following are the projects I am currently working on ? i) Mapping poverty using household level images ii) Learning outcome-based education system iii) feedback driven recruitment system iv) mechanism for employment forecasting etc. Simultaneously, I am working on several research works using the National Sample Survey and other Government datasets. My interest in Government data lies in the insight that we can obtain from these datasets using suitable technologies. Unfortunately, most of the Government datasets are yet to be utilized to their true potential.
I see an end to end system building can significantly alter the problems of poverty, hunger, lack of education/ employment etc.
